It is wild to think that in 2004 I started this crusade with Samantha the founder of the Sparkle foundation. I was 26 years old and want to help make a difference. I helped her with 2 families by donating gifts and wrapping presents. Now, fast forward to 2018 here we are.
The Sparkle Foundation, located in the received 15 nominations this year for single mothers needing assistance over the holiday season. The Sparkle board worked tirelessly to narrow the list down to 5, 5 women we knew we could make a difference for. We’ve taken their stories and shared them with you this year. Some of the stories will hit home. Some of the stories will move you, and some of the stories will leave you in tears. We share these stories, for I firmly believe that it is important to know who you are assisting and why.
These 5 women have beat incredible odds illness, financial difficulties, all struggling to raise children on their own. If you’re looking for a way to give back to the community this holiday season I encourage you to check out the DreamLists. Hear the stories of women that are just like many of us, or someone you know.
I always say living a life of purpose is what it’s all about and being a part of something bigger than yourself is what drives a person. Be a part of changing someone’s life this holiday season, whether it be with a pair of socks, toys for their children, tires for a mother’s car or the gift of food to put a holiday meal on a table.
Sparkle is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit by the IRS. The biggest thing that sets us aside from other charities is that 100% of every dollar, 100% of every gift, and 100% of every volunteer hour goes to the families that need it the most.

For those that would like to give monetary donations for the Sparkle Foundation’s 2018 Holiday Gift Drive. Donations will be used to purchase items not purchased from the list, items for the toiletries and food gift baskets, turkey dinners for the families, and holiday decorations for the families.
On December 7th and 8th will join together as a community to make this holiday season incredibly special for our selected families. Please have items delivered by November 30th. Gifts can be sent to Sparkle headquarters (448 Ignacio Blvd, #128, Novato, CA 94949) or arrange for local delivery with Brooke at brooke@sparklenow.org. It is VERY important that the Family Name (i.e., “Bright Light” and the person the gift is intended for (i.e., “P1” or “C2” or “Parent 1” or “Mom”) is included in the notes on the gift. Sorting will occur on December 7th at a location TBD and the Wrap-a-Thon and Delivery occur on December 8th. This event is always the highlight of the year for everyone who has ever participated.
