Sears has re-issued a recall of about 800,000 dehumidifiers, citing a fire risk.
The retailer initially recalled the Kenmore-brand dehumidifiers in August 2012 after the Consumer Product Safety Commission said 107 incidents were reported, with minor injuries and and damages topping $7 million. The humidifiers involved, 35-pint, 50-pint and three models of 70-pint and manufactured by LG Electronics, were sold at Sears and Kmart stores between 2003 and 2009, the CPSC filing said.
Owners are told to unplug the units and contact Sears for a gift card. Sears reissued the recall because of low response to the 2012 action.
