Water intrusion can be prevented with proper maintenance, water proofing, and regular inspections of your building or structure.

In the picture above, the plants have been removed and a contractor has been hired to water proof the interior of the planter.  This normally keeps water inside the planter and prevents water from intruding into a home, building, or structure.

Water proofing materials will usually include metal flashing, hot tar, black paper, and a good contractor.  After the previous layers of water proofing materials have been removed, the contractor will install the proper water proofing materials and seal the planter.   Water within the planter is now directed into the drain.

All patios, decks, and planters should be inspected for lose or lifting materials prior to the rainy season.  An inspection of these components will help prevent moisture intrusion during the winter rains.
